Best Doctors is offered through leading employers as a health benefit to their employees. Some employers provide the benefit to all employees, while others provide to those employees who are benefits-enrolled. If your employer offers the Best Doctors program, we will want to confirm your eligibility for the service.
Your employer is providing this new service as part of the company’s goal to help you make more informed decisions about your healthcare. The Best Doctors service is intended to supplement the work of your own doctor, not replace it, and most doctors find that collaboration with other experts helps in complex situations.
No. Participation is completely voluntary and there is no cost to you. The program is funded by your company. Of course, if you decide to get additional tests or other services as a result of the report from Best Doctors, charges for those services will be paid by you, your employer, or your health insurance in accordance with its provisions, and not by Best Doctors.
Best Doctors provides services to individuals for a wide range of medical conditions. Cases of mental health disorders that do not have physical ailments are not serviced by Best Doctors. Additionally, the Best Doctors program does not provide consulting services for cases being covered under Workers Compensation. In order for members and employers to gain the full impact of our service offering, it is important that Best Doctors is viewed by all covered individuals as an independent and trusted medical authority.

Best Doctors physicians are best-in-class medical specialists selected through a comprehensive peer-review process. Best Doctors surveys doctors nationwide, asking them for an assessment of the clinical abilities of their peers, and yielding highly qualitative insight into the medical profession. Doctors cannot pay to be included on the list, or nominate themselves for the list. Each physician is confirmed to be board certified in their specialty, licensed to practice medicine in the jurisdiction in which they are practicing, and that their disciplinary record is clear. The Best Doctors in America™ database includes about 5 percent of physicians across the United States covering more than 400 specialties and subspecialties of medicine.
Typically, the service is provided to employees and their covered dependents, however, this varies by company.
