As a Best Doctors physician, you are qualified to participate in the Best Doctors InterConsultation program. Best Doctors is dedicated to improving quality of care by helping people get the right diagnosis and right treatment. Physicians like you are integral to the success of this mission. The InterConsultation program applies your expertise to significant cases—giving reassurance to those concerned with medical uncertainty.

Our experts make a real difference. Thousands of expert InterConsultations in the past decade have resulted in a change of diagnoses in 22% of cases and treatment plans in 61% of cases.

The InterConsultation Process

  1. The InterConsultation process begins with our medical team providing you with all pertinent information for a case including: a physician-written synopsis and a set of focused clinical questions crafted by the Best Doctors physician leadership team.
  2. We ask you to review this information, provide your opinion on the most appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan, and answer the focused clinical questions.
  3. Your report is reviewed by Best Doctors physician leadership and then communicated by our medical team to both the patient and their treating physician.

Throughout the process all interactions are collegial, supportive, and informative.

Best Doctors physicians are invited to participate in the InterConsultation program based on a match between their clinical practice and our clients’ needs. Participation is optional, and is not a condition of retaining your status as a Best Doctor.

Professional Profile

Beginning September 2010, inclusion packets were sent via US Mail to all 2011-2012 Best Doctors physicians. The packet contained a Professional Profile. If you have not yet returned your updated Professional Profile to us, please do so. This data is most helpful to our Clinical Services staff for referrals and our communications staff for our work with publications and hospital PR contacts.

If you have not received your packet, please check with your mail-handling staff. If a duplicate is required, contact research@bestdoctors.com or call 800-675-1199 x3315. We will accept a home mailing address for this purpose.
